Water Soldiers

Back in July I ‘planted’ 2 water soldiers (Stratiotes aloides) in my pond. This was my sort of gardening – I just dropped the plants into the pond! These fascinating plants need no more care. In summer they will float and I am assured they will produce white flowers. In autumn they become slimy and sink, protecting them from the vagaries of the English climate. Watch this blog for photos of the flowers next summer.
