Comma nursery

This disused iron gate is being used as a climbing frame for a hop plant. Hops are one of the food plants of the comma butterfly and a while back a comma butterfly laid some eggs on it, and I have been watching the caterpillars grow. Some are starting to pupate, and there are 2 pupating caterpillars and 1 chrysalis in this picture.

I should be able to get one hatching butterfly…
